Doctor Fulton Visits Pre-school
Alastair’s Mummy Alex came to visit us today who is a Doctor. She brought with her a stethoscope, thermometer, otoscope, blood pressure monitor and a pulse oximeter for the children to listen and hold. The children were dressed in Dr’s and Nurses outfits and were very responsive -they listened to their own heat-beat and some ran on the spot to feel their heart beating fast. Alex even brought in a CD with the sound of heartbeats and breathing noises than can be heard through the stethoscope.
Sue had an otoscope put in her ear by Alex and the children were fascinated when they could see right inside!
The pulsometer was then passed around and Ben said it was like a ‘crocodile’, the children then took it in turns to have the blood pressure sleave put round their arm.
Alex talked to the children about keeping healthy and the things they should eat and drink – so many correct answers came back from the children. Such a fantastic time was had by all! We look forward to another visit from Doctor Fulton in the future!
